Fast and fun pattern for a Twist Front Knitted Headband for the Addi King Size Express 46 pin knitting machine or the Sentro 48 pin knitting machine

There’s something incredibly satisfying about working on a knitting machine. Don’t get me wrong, I love hand knitting and find it very fulfilling to work with my hands, especially when I work with a super bulky yarn or a bulky yarn. It’s a different experience with the knitting machine.
There’s a few perks to the knitting machine.
- Speed! Whoa, you can create a beautiful headband in 20 minutes! I don’t use power tools for the crank, so I’m sure it would go even faster if you did!
- Working with worsted yarn! Because I’m a busy mom of 5 young kids, I need fast projects that I can crank out (no pun intended) during nap time! I prefer to knit with bulky or super bulky yarn if I’m hand knitting. However, if I’m using the knitting machine, I will use worsted weight yarn and it works up SUPER FAST! It also gives me countless yarn options!
- More time for creativity and making numerous color options! Because it works up so quickly, I have more time to make more and more colors and color combos! My favorites are pairing a cream color with a variegated yarn with cream in it. Or anything with a blush pink color!
I hope you have fun working with your Sentro or Addi knitting machines and knitting up new color combos! Happy Knitting!

Twisted Knitted Headband for Addi or Sentro Knitting Machine
This is a fast and fun knitting pattern for your knitting machine. Sentro 48 pin or Addi 46 pin. You can also use a 40 pin knitting machine, the headband just won't be as tall.
Materials
- Knitting Machine: Sentro 48 pin or Addi Express 46 pin
- 2 skeins of worsted weight yarn (I use Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn), about 100 yards of each color.
- I used a solid color and then a variegated color for a fun variation. You could also do a solid color or just a variegated yarn color blend.
- Darning needle
- Custom Tag, if using
Instructions
- Cast on your stitches onto your knitting machine, leaving a long tail (about 12 inches) for sewing the end shut
- Reset your knitting machine to 0.
- With the solid color, knit 48 rows with medium/tight tension. I just let the yarn glide between my fingers with medium tension.
- Switch to the variegated yarn. You can either make a knot to connect the colors, or knit 2-3 stitches held together and knit slowly.
- Reset your knitting machine to 0.
- Knit with the variegated yarn for 49 rows. (I find that the solid color is slightly thicker weight, so one extra row evens them up)
- Once you have gone all the way around, cut a long tail (18 inches or so) and using your darning needle pick up each stitch from the knitting machine. Go around the machine, careful not to drop a stitch.
- Once you have all of the stitches picked up, stretch and lay out your headband into a rectangle.
- Weave in any loose ends from connecting the yarn.
Finishing your headband and adding the twist.
- First you will need to flatten the headband and sew the ends shut, making a rectangle.
- My favorite way to sew the ends closed is to crochet a simple slip stitch.
- You could also use a mattress stitch or whip stitch to close.
- Once you have the ends closed, let's add the twist!
There are a couple ways to make the "twist". Here's how I do mine for this style headband.
- I hold both ends of the headband and form a < > with my hands, inserting one color into the other.
- Holding all 4 layers together and using your yarn end and darning needle, sew them all together, being sure to catch all 4 layers with your darning needle.
- There's also a zig zag closure and an X closure. Mine is shown in the standard closure.
Add your custom tag and you're done!!
I hope you have fun knitting and making this twist front headband.
